DocuShare 2.2 Web-based repository for document and content management meets the government's Section 508 guidelines for accessibility. It is the first Internet or intranet Web product in its category that meets the federal Section 508 compliance standard without requiring customization As a Section 508-compliant product, the DocuShare user interface was designed with embedded code that enables special disabled-access software to work with DocuShare. For example, reader applications can create an audio version of the DocuShare user interface so that a blind person knows what's displayed on the screen and can readily use the application. Competitive Web-based intranet and Internet knowledge management applications are not yet certified compliant or require custom development to qualify under the new regulations.
